Mountain Craft and Safety Day

Do you enjoy the outdoors, but when the weather takes a turn for the worst do you think lets give it a miss and we will go another day ? 

This event could just be right up your street to give you the confidence you need.

At FERN Outdoor Adventures we are very experienced in the outdoors with over 30 years experince and suitably qualifed to help build your skill levels and boost your confidence to take you further.

Your day will be lead by Graeme who is a qualied Mountain Leader and spent over 26 years voulunteering for Mountain Rescue so you know you will be in safe hands whatever the weather. The day will start from Bowless Visitors Centre where we will head out towards Holwick Scar and walk a circular route from here. During the session you will get chance to ask as many questions as you like, we will be having plenty of discussions and looking at various scenarios during the day. We will pass High Force Water Fall and Low Force before we return to Bowless for a cuppa at the visitors centre and a debrief of the day.

The day will consist of looking at :

• Basic Navigation
• Taking Bearings
• Pacing
• Emergency Procedures and what to do in the event of an incident
• The use of various apps to locate your position
• Equipment and clothing

The event is suitable for all abilites and an expected kit list will be sent prior to the event. For more information drop us a message and we will answer any questions you may have.

The event is aimed at 18+ however if under 18s want to attended this is acceptable but THEY MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A FULL PAYING PARENT OR GUARDIAN please contact us for more information before booking.
